I'll be attempting my own little side project of Apologetic works: which is helping believers defend their faith, and if possible, allow those that may be seeking God who have attempted Atheism to see how the Christian worldview holds itself up. This will be kept up with once a week, and like I guess the other subjects I am working on, is totally open for crazy debate and topics as long as they DON'T GET OUT OF HAND. Now let me get one thing clear right now, there is a reason this is called "DEFENSE" and not an "Offensive strike" is cuz that is exactly what Jesus wouldn't want you to do. If anyone asks you why you believe what you believe and how to prove it, then I hope this blog helps that person out, cuz that is a really tough spot to be in. You can use this type of info to go grave robbing; if you will, and start an offensive attack (like I was so prone to doing a little while back) and you better understand you will not have my support. This leads no one to Christ, and helps no person out; especially YOU. So without further ado, the first atheism defense blog and question 1 of the series ISSS....
Q1. Is Christianity a reasonable belief system? Or a better way to ask this question is are there problems with the Christian belief system?
Question one is answered by me as an obvious yes (I am a Christian!) While theologically, the bible is a sound book, there are certain tough questions that many Christians may find problems in answering; most of which aren't even bible related. 1st Question is the big sinking lure for most scientists is, how old is our universe? A couple thousand years old, or a couple billion? (13.4 billion if some don't know) My response if charged with this question is using a Cosmolgoical Arguement and the book of Genesis you get a very accurate depiction of the Universe, and you don't really have to prove a when. You have to understand that this question requires a scientific view, which is the adopted principle of many atheists to disprove God. If you use what the book not enough Faith to be an Atheist acronym calls the GREAT SURGE, and a philosophical principal called the cosmological arguement you can totally back your belief in God, while still ascertaining to Science's theory of the how of our universe a.k.a the "Big Bang." Here is the cosmological arguement in logical form: 1. Everything that had a beginning had a cause. 2. The universe had a beginning. 3. Therefore the Universe had a cause. Ok so if I lost anybody there I am gonna explain. So part one of the logic equation (Which is red) is using the literal foundational principal of science itself, The LAW OF CAUSALITY. Without the Law of Causality no science can exsist. Scientists real role is finding the causes of everything, or better put, what causes what to happen. So using an analogy like a snowman appears in your front yard one day, you automatically assume someone caused (made) the snowman, it didn't just appear out of thin air. Same principal with our universe it didn't just appear, and Einstien figured out it isn't eternal either. Possibly the greatest Scientific find was the discovery of our universe expanding at a constant rate, which if it is expanding and exactly this speed, and you supress the expansion (a.k.a recoil the expansion to a certain point) then NOTHING'S THERE. This is where the great SURGE theory backs the premises of Genesis, the fact that everything jumped into exsistence the way it does in Genesis is actually great evidence, let me expand on the SURGE acronym really quick.
S. Stands for the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
U. As found by Einstien the Universe Expands, like I said up there rewind the universe, and you get to a point where nothing's there.
R. Stands for the Radiation from the Big Bang (Later).
G. Stands For Great Galaxy Seeds (Later).
E. Is the man that proved the exsistence of a theistic God himself, stands for Einstein; and his theory of general relativity (Later).
I am gonna make the rest of this blog later actually, but this arguement here is to prove that the Universe isn't eternal, and therefore needs a cause. The Big Bang is a theory in Effect, what is the Cause? The Law of Causality also has one more fundamental principle, there is one eternal uncaused first cause. It is either God, or the disproven Universe. I'll leave you to decide.
wow, what a great blog!!
